Business depends on networking, referrals, and solid building relationships. To promote this, www.BusinessPartnerships.ca will oversee the contest to find out who is Canada's Networker of the Year between April 1, 2006 and March 31, 2007.

The contest is a opportunity for you to thank those people who have successfully introduced you to someone (or something) of value, to practise your networking skills, and to forge long-lasting relationships.

The goal of the project is to promote the skills needed to build a solid network the right way: by putting the other person first. And so, points are earned based on sharing information or connections that bring value to the recipient.

We're calling it paying back those who have paid it forward.

Points are awarded as follows:

  • 3 points for every referral you give someone that results in concrete value to the recipient (a new client, a new business meeting, a valuable contact, or resources or information they needed to move forward) - they must report the referral, not you;
  • 1 point when you report receiving a referral;
  • 2 points every time you answer a query on the BusinessPartnerships.ca discussion boards;
  • 3 points for each of the Business Partnerships Canada Learn at L'Espresso - the Entrepreneur Series seminar evenings you attend; and
  • 2 points for every guest you bring to one of the events.
  • Wendy Woods of Watershed Training Solutions officiallly launched the contest at the inaugural session of the Learn at L'Espresso - the Entrepreneur Series April 19, 2006 event.

    Wendy says, "Helping others is a fundamental principle for successful networking. The Networker of the Year Award is a great way to recognize your efforts to put others' needs first." You can read Wendy's Top 10 Networking Tips on her Networking Group Reviews discussion board at www.BusinessPartnerships.ca.
